Monroe, James (1758-1831) Document Signed, Washington, D.C., 5 March 1821. Parchment land deed, engraved and printed by J. Seymour, New York, fulfilled by hand, granting Abraham Shong, a private in James Harvey Hook's (1791-1841) Company of the 38th Regiment of Infantry during the War of 1812, 160 acres in the Arkansas Territory, signed by Monroe, countersigned by Commissioner of the General Land Office Josiah Meigs (1751-1822),also signed by Shong himself, with seal, toning, old folds, 12 1/2 x 9 3/4 in.
