Madison, James (1751-1863) Ship's Papers Signed, 22 March 1809. Two sections of four (English and Dutch) from a four-language ship's passport, on paper, letterpress typography completed by hand, allowing the brig Pocahontas, under the command of Isaiah Pratt, to travel to Madeira laden with flour, pork, beef, bread, cheese, rice, tobacco, harness, glass, candles, tea, paints, oil, carts, shooks, tar, staves, boards, and gloves, 9 1/4 x 8 1/2 in.
