Garfield, James A. (1831-1881) Letter Signed, Washington D.C., 1 February 1877. Single leaf of House of Representative letterhead, inscribed on one page. To C.A. Rudolph Esquire of Wilmington, Delaware, fulfilling his request for an autograph, and noting that his wife was a Rudolph from near "Head of Elk" in Maryland, and asking whether this man is of the same family. Fragmentary along folds, some offsetting, toning to verso, 9 3/4 x 7 1/2 in.
