Elliott, Mary H. (fl. circa 1877) Connecticut River Sailing Journal 1877, with Drawings. Quarto format lined notebook, approximately forty-five leaves, containing accounts of several week-long sailing cruises along the Connecticut River, the first part entitled, Long Book of the Betsy Baker -cat rigged sailboat- from Black Point to Springfield, the Captain on this voyage was one M.D. Allen, "also Commodore, commissioned by New Orleans's carnival committee, Jan. 5th, 1876, per order of the King of the Carnival," crew: Mary E. Allen and Mary H. Elliott, Rover Allen, "first class passenger"; each written in a chatty and humorous style; a trip to Cape Cod of the "Sans Souci Club -(no bother)" is also described; with seven pages of pencil drawings of houses and other buildings at the end, contemporary half red leather, 7 3/4 x 6 1/2 in.
