Signed "Jules Breton" l.l., titled on a presentation plaque, with a materials supply stamp from J. Bovard, Toiles et Couleurs, Paris, on the reverse.

Oil on canvas, 15 3/4 x 12 1/2 in. (40.0 x 31.8 cm),framed.
Condition: Craquelure, scattered retouch, frame abrasions.

Provenance: The estate of Carol J. Ferranti.

Stamped on the reverse "J. BOVARD/TOILES et COULEURS/RUE de BUCI, 15./PARIS."

Frame with several losses. The craquelure is very fine. There are slight canvas bulges at the lower left and upper right. There is a small abrasion with paint loss at the lower center, to the left of the figure's shoe. The largest areas of retouch are in the lower left and lower right, with small dots of inpainting at center right and center left.

Framed dimensions: 26 x 23 in.
