N.B. Edward Steichen's influential career as a photographer and curator spanned over six decades. From 1923 to 1938 he served as chief photographer for Condé Nast where he made fashion and celebrity portraits for Vanity Fair and Vogue. Florence Homolka studied dance and acting in Paris and Berlin before settling in New York where she was an active member of the theatrical and literary world. She later became a successful portraitist herself, photographing artists, actors, writers, musicians, film stars, and other celebrities of her day.
