Description:

24 1/2-inch Disc Polyphon Style 54 Mikado Upright Musical Box, c. 1895, walnut case with turned finials surmounting the elaborate pierced pediment, and stepped dentil-molded crest, turned and carved freestanding columns flanking the arched glazed door, hinged lower disc drawer with book-matched burl walnut center panel and carved corbels, all on squat bun feet, nickel-plated movement with dual melody and single piccolo comb, and a long running spring-powered mechanism, twenty-seven discs, ht. 86 in.

Provenance: Descended in the Detwiller family of Greenville, New Jersey.

sound is good and clean,but a fly wheel little sluggish, needs lubrication. case has nice old finish but has been cleaned, on/off switch needs adjusting, it is not stopping until spring runs out.
