Homer Gunn (American, 1899-1966)

Abstract Horse Head. Stamped "HOMER GUNN" in the metal along the bottom edge at the back, inscribed "Surface to Surface" in marker in the interior. Welded bronze sheet metal, height 18 5/8 in., presented without a plinth. Condition: Surface grime.

N.B. Homer Gunn studied at RISD from 1938 to 1941, then at the Art Students League of New York. He later taught at Deerfield Academy. His public commissions include the War Memorial in Greenfield, Massachusetts, and sculptures for the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Tanglewood and the Basketball Hall of Fame.
