Description:

Four Tea Caddies, England, 19th century, including a mother of pearl and gilt decorated black lacquer, lg. 7 3/4; a hexagonal satinwood with inlay, lg. 7 1/2; a rectangular inlaid mahogany, lg. 4 5/8; and a rectangular silver trimmed shell paneled box with angular dome cover, lg. 3 5/8 in.

Tortoiseshell: Most shell panels quite "foggy"; three pieces of the silver inlay missing; finial has been glued; repairs to the footrim band; hinges need repairing; top rim of box reglued and with some loss; box interior relined.
Hexagonal: Allover refinished; several repairs to the inlaid edging; cracks by escutcheon and with possible escutcheon replacement; missing part of the lock; interior cover with replaced border, button handle and allover refinished; replaced lining; poorly repaired hinges.
Rectangular: Scattered repairs and losses to exterior trim; interior cover a replacement and with repaired break to one corner.
Mother of Pearl: Overall scattered wear to gilding; chips to cover and foot rims and to feet; interior appears to have been glazed and with allover craquelure;rrepairs at hinges; compartments relined.
