Russian Mahogany and Gilt-bronze Secretary, first quarter 19th century, the shaped cornice over a frieze with bellflower chains, flanked by pilasters topped with laurels over figural head mounts, a single fold-down writing surface opens to reveal an interior with correspondence slots and three short drawers, two bearing the inscription "Van Wyck," projecting lower case with single drawer and lower curvate shelf, all on heavily carved griffon monopodia, ht. 50 3/4, wd. 36 3/8, dp. 21, dp. open 27 1/4 in.
Some hardware and mounts of a later date. Griffons likely re-gilded. Areas of restoration. Overall some scattered nicks, scuffs and surface wear typical with age and use. Bottom shelf has a seam that is separating/needs securing. See photos.
