Artist-designed Enamel Brooch, Jack Youngerman, c. 1969, 2 7/8 x 2 in., made by Multiples Inc., signed and dated.

Note: Jack Youngerman (b. 1926),a modernist painter and sculptor, trained in Paris in the 1950s with Ellsworth Kelly and Josef Albers. In the period when this brooch was made, Youngerman was using positive/negative compositional schemes and broad areas of unmodulated color with a controlled palette to produce vibrant images. A retrospective of his work was presented at the Guggenheim in 1986.

Exhibitions: This design was exhibited in Jewelry as Sculpture as Jewelry, Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, 1973.
