Shanxi Decorated Red Lacquer Cabinet, China, 20th century, with softwood foundation and brass hardware, structured in two parts with the upper opening on front and sides, decorated with a depiction of women in a garden on top and on bottom flowering shrubs and birds, the frame decorated with floral scrolls with flowers and vines on the top; the lower cabinet with two hinged doors, the upper circular panel depicting birds and flowers and the lower with women in a landscape, the sides decorated with flowering shrubs and birds, one removable shelf, decorated base apron, feet with brass caps, 60 x 34 x 17 in.
Provenance: Purchased from Roach and Craven, Boston, 1968.
