Sioux Painted Buffalo Hide Dance Shield, c. last quarter 19th century, mounted on a wood hoop with a cloth-wrapped wood rod at the back, the front painted green and with a deer head framed by three rectangles, written in pencil on the interior: "Standing Rock Agency, Fort Yates, N.D. July 4, 1900," dia. 19 in.
