George III Sterling Silver Teapot, London, 1780-81, Hester Bateman, maker, with an inverted pear-shaped body and removable lid, chased with pendant laurel garlands and swags, ht. 8 1/2 in., approx. 22.9 troy oz.

Lid marked with lion passant and rubbed "HB" (bottom showing only),interior rim dented out of round, still sits well. Teapot handle dented into body with associated crack to silver (see image). Scattered surface abrasions, nicks, and minor dents throughout. Vacant cartouche with possible engraving removal (silver surface still strong though with focused area of abrasions).
