Miniature Portrait of Francis Jackson Ward

Oil on paper, 2 5/8 x 2 1/8 in., in a gilt mount, the back with lock of hair and engraved "1833/FRANCIS J. WARD/AGED 3 years/Son of NAHUM and SUSAN G. WARD."
Condition: Minor toning to paper, suspension loop has been resoldered.
Note: According to genealogical sources Francis Jackson Ward was born September 17, 1830 in Roxbury, Massachusetts, to Nahum (1801-1858) and Susan Stetson Gurney Ward (1811-1843). Francis died January 14, 1912 in Boston, and is buried in the Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, Massachusetts.
