Description:

Oak Chest over Drawer, probably Massachusetts, c. 1650-80, the molded lift top opens to a well above a case with central panel with arch and turned drop, with flanking panels, oval bosses, moldings, and four pairs of turned split spindles, with crease-molding below and a single drawer with recessed molded panels flanked by spool-turned split spindles, old surface, (height loss),ht. 27, wd. 42 1/4, dp. 20 3/4 in.

Provenance: Aruthur W. Wellington, a Boston collector of the late 19th century and founding member of "Trestleboard," a Boston antiquarian group, then by descent to the present owners.

Some height loss, some balusters probably restored, the right end rear panel replaced, right rear style has an old patch at the bottom, till restored.
