Oregon, Anonymous Artist, Oil on Canvas, 19th century. Primitive painting, depicting life in the foothills above Portland, Oregon, at the time of its early settlement; showing a two-story home (or inn) on a wide dirt road, with a mounted rider leading a draught horse, and several pedestrians. Titled and dated on Kennedy Galleries labels on the back, from the collection of Edward Eberstadt & Sons; expertly conserved, relined, short tear in sky neatly repaired and inpainted, period-style frame, 18 x 24 in.
