Dozens of issues of the paper for the period between 1859 and 1861, including notice of John Brown's execution (December 3, 1859); Abraham Lincoln's election as President (November 7, 1860); the lead-up to South Carolina's secession (December 18, 1860); the cascade of southern states seceding from the Union in January of 1861; the First Battle of Bull Run (July 23, 1861); and many others; not checked for completeness, some gaps in issues; some items clipped out; bound in contemporary half leather, worn, 20 3/4 x 16 in.
