Grose, Francis (1731-1791) The Antiquities of Ireland. London: for S. Hooper, 1791. Grose, an antiquary and travel writer, sought to provide his audience with the fullest experience possible, peppering his works with many detailed historical notes and remarks on all subjects treated. Tragically, he died on this very voyage, likely of a massive cerebral hemorrhage. His nephew worked with his friend Dr. Edward Ledwich, to complete the unfinished work, here published posthumously.
