Engraved document printed on parchment, fulfilled by hand, signed by Taft, countersigned by Jacob McGavock Dickinson (1851-1928) as Secretary of War, appointing John H. Janeway as a colonel on the retired list of the army, sealed, docketed, with old folds, some toning, 18 3/4 x 15 1/4 in.
