Lacquer Cosmetic Set, Japan, late 19th century, comprised of a covered bowl, a wash basin, a covered mizutsugi ewer, a folding tray, and six brushes, each exterior with the Tokugawa family crest surrounded by scattered crests in hexagonal cartouches on a black lacquer ground, the interior with a togidashi maki-e ground, dia. to 15, tray 9 5/8 x 6 5/8 in.
