Description:

White Salt-glazed Stoneware Bear Storage Pot, England, c. 1740-60, probably Staffordshire, modeled as a seated cub with detachable head, holding a dog in his paws and with brown slip eyes and tongue, allover encrusted with grog, ht. 3 3/8 in.

Provenance: From the Troy Chappell Collection; Ex collection Mr. Robert Bruce Wallis; Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
