Sternpost Flag off the Schooner Mistress, mid-20th century, the 24 x 36-in. flag with canton showing a diagonal anchor surrounded by a ring of stars, the design of the New York Yacht Club's Commodore flag, with thirteen red or white stripes, on a tapering turned post, ht. 70 1/2 in.

Note: The Mistress, a former NYYC flagship, was built in 1930 for George Roosevelt, the nephew of President Teddy Roosevelt. It has had a long history of ownership, and began a world voyage in 2014.
