Six Framed Pages from the "Private Scrap Book" of Lucius M. Mason, U.S. Navy, c. 1844, including a "title page" with Mason's name and the date August 17th, 1844 in ink, and five pictorial representations with captions, and four with Mason's signature, including "The Constitution in the increase of the gale off Tristan da Cunha on the night of the 24th of Sep 1844," "The Canoe of the Natives of Madagascar," A scene at sea by moonlight, in a light breeze," "'Bombay Man' smoking," and '"A Native of the harbor of St. Augustine Bay, on the island of Madagascar."

Note: The USS Constitution, under the command of John Percival, cruised around the world from May 1844 to September 1846. Mason was a midshipman who died in 1845 during the voyage, and was buried at sea.
