Félix Ziem (French, 1821-1911)

Market Place, Venice
Signed "Ziem" l.r., titled on a label from Edward Brandus, New York, affixed to the stretcher.
Oil on canvas, 36 x 26 1/2 in. (91.0 x 66.8 cm), framed (under glass).
Condition: Paint losses, craquelure with areas of lifting, surface grime.

Provenance: A Massachusetts educational institution.

N.B. The authenticity of this work has been confirmed by the Association Félix Ziem, represented by Mr. Mathias Ary Jan, Mr. David Pluskwa, and Mr. Gérard Fabre. A certificate can be delivered from the Association upon request.

Brandus (New York) label includes the number "3366." There is a second label from The Art Galleries of Edward Brandus, New York and Paris, on the stretcher, and a partial label from the Algonquin Club, New York, affixed to the back of the frame. Various other small labels with numbers on the stretcher.

Framed dimensions are 49 1/4 x 39 3/4 x 4 1/2 inches.
