Roger Dunster Burl Walnut Eight-day Musical Clock with Alarm, Amsterdam, c. 1765, the caddy-top case with carved and gilded finials depicting two heralding angels and Atlas holding the world, blind fret around the cornice and sides, flat marquetry-decorated columns flank the composite brass dial with silvered Roman numeral arcaded chapter ring, pierced scrollwork name boss engraved Roger Dunster/Amsterdam against a matted center, engraved seconds area, blued-steel hands, alarm setting disc at the center, cast brass spandrels, "strike-no strike" and music selection "1-2," the arch with moon's age and calendar flanked by painted figures of a young man playing the violin and a young lady playing the harp, all with floral and foliate engraving around the edge, removable waist section with glazed aperture, marquetry decoration of a flower and bird, lower bombe section with line and marquetry all on ball feet, eight-day time, strike, alarm, and musical six-pillar movement with a nest of nine bells and seventeen hammers, two additional larger bells for Dutch striking, three brass-cased weights and pendulum, ht. 115 in. with center finial.
