Five Charles Shoettel Folk Art Watercolor Theatrical Portraits, New York, second quarter 19th century, two of Josef Staudigl: "Herr Staudigl as Oroveso" from the opera Norma and "Scene from the Opera of Guillaume Tell"; and three matted: one titled "Rachel as Anne Boleyn," a Thomas Hamblin in Pizarro titled "Thomas S. Hamblin as Rolla," and a William Charles Macready titled "Macready as Richelieu," (imperfections).
Note: These watercolors were found in the album of Charles Shoettel, and was bound by John Walker, of New York City. The album was passed down by members of John D. Ottiwell's family. Ottiwell served in the 7th regiment of NYC volunteers and was a delegate to the 1868 Republican Convention. The album remained the property of the family until April 2002.
