Hardstone Carving of a Water Buffalo, China, in a recumbent position with its legs folded beneath itself, its head turned to the side with ears and ridged horns backward, and tail swirled to the side, carved and incised details including a whorl of hair on both buttocks, mottled celadon stone with widespread white opaque inclusions, brown spots, and natural fissures and cracks, highly polished, ht. 2 7/8, wd. 6 1/4, dp. 5 in.
