N.B. Two labels, apparently clipped from a publication, are affixed to the reverse of the paperboard support, one reading "ROSA BONHEUR" and the other "Vente Rosa Bonheur 1900." This work may correspond to No. 490 in the catalog for the sale of the Rosa Bonheur estate, "Mouton à tête noire de profil à droit," a work on canvas, for which the dimensions correspond to within a centimeter. However the entry does not mention any initials or date on the work, and the description itself is not sufficiently specific to be certain.
Estimate $1,000-1,500
Dimensions in the Bonheur sale catalog for No. 490 are 8.7 x 11.6 in. (22.0 x 29.0 cm).
