Marked on the reverse in pencil or similar with the dimensions of the panel followed by "Res."

There are a number of small white dots scattered on the surface (primarily in the lower half of the composition) which may be mold or some other foreign substance, which is not removable with a dampened cotton swab. The retouch is minimal and consists of a few broad strokes in the hat and some minor retouch at the edges of the panel, probably to cover frame abrasions. Craquelure is fine and stable, the most noticeable area being a vertical line of craquelure on the nose.
