Two Embroidered Rank Badges, China, 19th/20th century, one depicting a silver pheasant signifying the fifth rank, with bats and Buddhist treasures amongst ruyi-head clouds, standing on crashing waves above a lishui border, all surrounded by a couched gold thread scroll border, the other depicting a mandarin duck signifying the seventh rank, with similar motifs embroidered in couched gold thread and "forbidden stitch," both framed and glazed, badges to 11 1/2 x 12 1/4 in.
