Coconut Shell Bowl and Two Cups, late 19th/first quarter 20th century, footed bowl with silver-plate rim and incised carving, ht. 3 5/8; drinking cup with silver-plate rim and crest bearing the figure of a mother and child with laurel and inscription "BI' SE MAC AN T' SLAURIE," monogram (indistinct) below, ht. 5 5/8; tapered cup with shield-shaped crest bearing marks for Glasgow and "J J S," ht. 3 3/8 in.
N.B. "Bi' se mac an t'slaurie" is translated to "Be thou the son of the crook," for the Clan McLaurin, McLaurance or McLaren (Dreghorn, Scotland),in James Fairbairn's Fairbairn's Crests of the Families of Great Britain and Ireland.
