Federal Inlaid Cherry and Mahogany Veneer Chest of Drawers, John Gould Jr., New Ipswich, New Hampshire, early 19th century, the rectangular top with crossbanding and stringing over a conforming case of four graduated, cockbeaded, and crossbanded drawers, raised on a shaped apron and vase- and ring-turned legs, ht. 39, case wd. 40 1/2, dp. 18 3/4 in.

Note: The top drawer bears a label reading "John Gould Jr./Cabinet Maker/Near the Meetinghouse, in New Ipswich, manufactures in the newest stile, all kinds of Cherry & Mahogany Furniture/Cash or Furniture given for Cherry Boards and Plank."
