Charles Chevalier Universal Achromatic Microscope, c. 1840, with horizontal main tube engraved Microscope Achromatique Universal Charles Chevalier Ingenieur, Opticien, Palais Royal, 163, Paris, square stage, and large plano mirror on square pillar with fine adjustment, condenser lens with bayonet fitting, all housed in a dovetail mahogany case with accessories, two green-lined fitted velvet trays, containing objective lenses, eyepieces, mechanical stages, forceps, glass stage, bull's-eye, additional accessories are housed throughout the drawer case, box ht. 6 1/4, wd. 17, dp. 13 in.
