Thirty-four-star Flag of General J.K. Weaver, c. 1861-63, hand-sewn blue wool bunting canton with thirty-four white cotton stars, red and white wool bunting machine sewn strips, hoist in red, white, and blue cotton and written in black in pen Gen. J.K. Weaver, ht. 49, lg. 87 in.

Provenance: From the collection of the Valley Forge Historical Society.

Note: With this flag are copies of the donation correspondence, including a note about the flag: "my mother and two of her friends made/the flag entirely by hand./it was used at Durham/Iron Works during the war/used as a decoration at the/Sanitary Fair of Philadelphia/& was used draped with/black for President Lincoln/and President Garfield/since then it has been/packed away."

The red cotton on the hoist has faded, hoist and wool have some holes and fraying, but is in good condition considering its age.
