Massachusetts Haversack from Samuel J. Ford, Company A, 17th Massachusetts Infantry, c. 1861-65, black oilcloth outer bag and strap, inner bag made from white cotton and marked S.F. Ford Co. A, inside of flap marked SAMUEL J. FORD/CO. A. 17th MASS V, and the same in cursive around the edge of the flap, ht. 12 3/4, wd. 12 in.

Note: Samuel Ford enlisted on October 26th, 1861, and was mustered out January 3rd, 1864.
