Model 1858 Federal Infantry Dress Coat, c. 1864, dark blue lightly twill woven cloth with sky blue welting around the cuffs and collar, general service buttons on the cuff, front, and top of the side vents, black lining (some wear),and cotton sheeting sleeve lining, marked on the right sleeve cap G.A.C. & Co./PAT. Sept. 20 64 (Cowell's mothproofing patent),and 15 in red ink inside the left sleeve cap.

Outside of the coat is in very good condition, some wear to the lining in the chest and armhole.
