Black "Mammy" Doll, Martha Chase, Pawtucket, Rhode Island, c. 1900, with painted stockinet body and facial features, the arms and legs with stitched joints, fingers, and toes, dressed in a brown close-fitting shirt, white lace apron, and red head scarf and bandana, printed paper label reading in part "The Chase Stockinet Doll...," with blue "Chase Stockinet Doll Trade Mark" stamp, (minor wear), ht. 26 in.
