Condition: Minor fading, not examined out of frame.
N.B. On page 52 of Mantle Fielding's Dictionary of American Painters, Sculptors and Engravers there is a listing for an artist by the name of Butler described as: "a little known genre painter who lost an arm in the Civil War. He was painting in Rome in 1870."
