Embroidered Rank Badge, China, 18th/19th century, depicting a qilin signifying the first military rank, with bats, peony and peach trees, scholar's rocks, and lingzhi mushrooms embroidered in "forbidden stitch," surrounded by ruyi-head clouds, all above crashing ruyi-head waves revealing treasures, framed and glazed, 10 3/4 x 10 3/4 in.
