Cased Shellwork Sailor's Valentine, probably Barbados, 19th century, comprised of two octagonal halves, the left half with shells arranged around a heart motif, the right half with shells geometrically arranged around a central reserve lettered "FORGET ME NOT," (imperfections),ht. 9 in.

lacks glass, "forget-me-not" half loose at top edge, screws added to underside of cases to facilitate display, few shells loose/missing.
