Folk Art Pen and Ink Drawing of a Celebration, America, c. 1870-85, including children dancing around a maypole, musicians, and hunting birds, all in front of a church, houses, and rolling hills, the image sketched on the back of an engraving of Ulysses S. Grant, in a black molded frame, ht. 7 1/2, wd. 10 1/2 in.

Note: It has been suggested that the scene is intended to represent Quakers and slaves celebrating in front of Shiloh Church after the Battle of Vicksburg.
