Eight Assorted KushiCombs and a Stick Kanzashi Hairpin, Japan, 19th/20th century, three lacquered wood combs decorated with floral and foliate designs in hiramaki-e, one with bats in takamaki-e, one applied against a brown ground; a set of brown lacquered comb and kanzashi stickpin, decorated with floral motifs; and four faux tortoiseshell combs, two with gilt details, one plain, and one rimmed with gilt metal, wd. to 4 5/8 in.

metal clad one with flaking to the shaft and patinas to metal rim, the smallest broken and lost part, all over chips to tortoiseshell ones, flaking and loss of gilt to gold lacquered ones.
