Barbizon Landscape
Unsigned, inscribed faintly on the reverse.
Oil on canvas, 10 x 16 1/8 in. (25.3 x 41.2 cm),framed.
Condition: Varnish inconsistencies, surface grime.

Provenance: Contents of Rose Farm (the Ebenezer Knight Dexter House, Angell Street, Providence, Rhode Island) by descent to John Byron Diman (1863-1949),founder of St. George's School in Middletown, Rhode Island, then by descent in the Stimson, Diman, and Porter families to the current owner.

Estimate $500-700

The inscription is thought to have been written by J. Lewis Diman, although it is now too faded to be legible.
