Gifford MacGregor Proctor (American, 1912-2006)
Trout/Bronze Medal of The Society of Medalists, 47th issue, 1953. Initialed "GP" on the reverse, marked "The Society of Medalists For issue May 1953 Gifford MacGregor Proctor sc." on the edge, made by Medallic Art Company, New York. Bronze with dark brown patina, diameter 2 7/8 in., in original box with pamphlet. Condition: Good.
N.B. The front or obverse of the medal shows a brown trout seen from the fisherman's point of view as the fish rises to strike at a wet fly. The back or reverse of the medal shows a dry fly, the Parmachini Belle. A cast of this medal may be found in The Cleveland Museum of Art.
