Vasiform, with short strap handles from rim to shoulder, painted image of a Native American on a glossy warm brown ground, Rookwood fourteen-flame mark for 1900 and incised S1667B, JR, unread, Sioux and SL for Frederick Sturgis Laurence (active 1895-1904),drilled and mounted on a later carved stand, ceramic ht. 8 1/2 in.

Bottom of vase drilled, metal rim cap glued (?) in place, wooden base recent, approximately 1/4 inch glaze imperfection in area of headdress.
