Oil on canvas, 32 x 26 in. (81.5 x 66.0 cm), unframed.
Condition: Patch reinforcement, retouch, stretcher bar marks, surface grime.

N.B. The sitter, David Soyer (1923-2010), was the founding cellist of the Guarneri String Quartet, formed at the Marlborough Music Fesitval in Vermont in 1964, and playing together for the following 37 years. Raphael Soyer was the sitter's cousin.
