Condition: Restoration throughout, craquelure, lined.

Provenance: The estate of Wayne Beam Morrell (1923-2013),Rockport, Massachusetts.

Note: Millicent Jarvis was a Massachusetts painter and member of the Boston Art Club duRing the latter part of the 19th century. She opened a studio at 149A Tremont Street in 1876, but is not listed in the city directory from 1882-1892. In 1893, she is listed as maintaining a studio at 108 Mt. Vernon Street, Boston, until 1903. She exhibited two oils at the Boston Art Club in 1877 and a watercolor in 1881. One of her most accomplished works, Woman with a Rose in her Hair, a 52 x 33 inch oil on canvas, was exhibited at the Fuller Art Museum.

UV examination shows vertical crack restored wtih several tears restored in background. Scattered in-paint and craquelure. Older restoration in girls face. Verso label reads: "Title: Jeannette in Studio. Artist: Millicent Jarvis. Return to 56 Lawrence Bldg, Boston"
