The painting was in the possession of the artist's family until the spring of 2005, when it was sold at Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers in Denmark (Sale 743, Lot 01480, June 8, 2005). This information is confirmed in an email from the auction house written by Ms. Sanne Bach Larsen, dated Monday, August 29, 2005. A photograph of this email accompanies the lot.
