Oil on canvas, 16 1/8 x 32 in. (41.0 x 81.2 cm),framed.
Condition: Lined, retouch, craquelure, surface grime.
Provenance: Christie's New York, June 1, 1984, Lot 25.

The lining is adhered with wax. There are at least two campaigns of retouching. The more recent is dashes and strokes on the far shore and trees, and lines of craquelure. The older includes broad glazes as well as several areas of loss. These latter appear stable with the exception of small spots along the upper edge (at the line of the stretcher bar). There is scattered craquelure.
Label from Art Restoration Technical Institute, New York, on the frame cardboard backing. Also stamped "CHRISTIES/ P," numbered "C552 F," and with a sticker reading "HELEN LOT 25/ 6/1/84" all on the cardboard backing. Also marked "C552" directly on the reverse on top of the lining. Restoration includes retouch in sky and 1" area in hill u.l. and in trees.
